Spring 2010 Classes

Please call to register for these classes early so you will be sure to get a seat. You can e-mail me at crafts@capital.net or call me at (607) 869-9911 or (315) 576-4546.

This spring we will be having needle art classes on Sunday afternoons from 1:00 p. m. to 4:00 p.m. and decorative painting classes on Monday evenings from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. These are great times to take a class as there are so many husbands doing their “couch potato” thing and watching sports on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings. Their wives enjoy attending a nice class, learning some new things, enjoying a refreshing cup of tea or coffee and treat, and then going home with something wonderful to show their family.

The class fee for the Needle art classes is $5.00 and the fee for the decorative painting class is $12.00. Each painting class has a material fee that changes with the project being taught. You are encouraged to bring your own brushes, paper towels, wax paper, and any other supplies that you use for painting.

The shop sells wet pallets, water basins, brushes, stylus, see-through rulers, varnishes, crackling mediums, and lots of other painting mediums. The shop furnishes the paints for the project being taught, a color picture, directions, and patterns for the project. ALL CLASS SURFACES MUST BE PURCHASED AT RASPBERRY PATCH AND THE ONLY SUBSTITUTION CAN BE ANOTHER SURFACE OF SIMILAR SIZE AND COST THAT YOU MIGHT PREFER THAT IS FOR SALE HERE AT THE SHOP. We have many surface available for sale. Sometimes I will allow you to bring in a chair, stool or small table for a special project.

Please look through the following Classes and then call at least five days prior to the class to sign up for one or two of them (or all of them!!!!!!!!)  We have loads of fun and learn lots of painting techniques along the way.  Please join the fun!

             "THE SLEDDING HILL”
This three-week painting project will bring back memories of sledding with your friends and family and all the fun and laughter that went along with it. There are several surfaces to pick from to paint this project on. There are round boxes (wooden and paper mache, round baskets, wooden plates, or you can bring a round stool from home). You will learn and perfect your side-loading and shading skills with this project and enjoy every minute of painting the adorable houses, hills, fences and trees. $20.00.
Begins on Monday, March 8 - Monday, March 15th.

     "Easter Fabric Lampshade"
This adorable Easter lampshade will be the highlight of your Easter decorations.  It is small (6" at base) and goes on a candle lamp, but the pattern can be enlarged for a larger shade.  The shade is a purchased fabric shade and is painted with fabric paints.  It features carrots, tulips, Easter eggs, daisies, and dots on the borders.  The small shade class is $10.00 but if you wish to bring a larger shade you are welcome to do that.  The cost for the paints is $2.00 if you bring your own shade.  It can be painted at any Monday night class in March.

* * *March Night Classes * * *
In March we will be doing several projects at the Monday night classes.  Some students will be painting the Sledding Hill project and bringing their own stool or chair to work on, some will be finishing up their wool pillows, and some will be painting the Easter eggs and bunny projects.  This is a departure from our normal routine, but sometimes it is fun to lots of projects going on at the same time.

         “EASTER”
I have an assortment of Easter Eggs and Folk Art Eggs to paint this year. I also have an egg holder that can be coordinated with the colors of your eggs to display them. I will have an assortment of sizes and styles of eggs to choose from and the price will depend on the eggs you pick to paint. There will also be clay saucers that can be painted for displaying your eggs in with grasses and other basket fillers. We will be painting eggs in many styles and patterns begin on in Monday, March 22nd and end on Monday, March 29th.

A second choice for an Easter Project is a cute Easter Bunny that can be painted on a plaque or box. He is adorable and would be a great gift for a grandchild for an Easter present. The cost depends on the surface you pick to paint him on. He can be done at either of the Mondays we are doing the Easter eggs.

      “LAMPSHADE”
The time has come to make a pierced and cut lampshade. Using lampshade paper we will trace on our pattern, then cut the design with an Exacto knife and punch where necessary and add a lining. Each student will have the choice of painting her design or leaving it plain. There are many designs available and also many choices of colors for your shade.
             $20.00. Monday, April 12th.
